LEFT-SIDE PANEL COMPONENTS

The following is a brief description of your LifeBook
notebook’s left-side components.

Wireless LAN/Bluetooth On/Off Switch
The wireless LAN/Bluetooth on/off switch is used to
turn on and off the WLAN and Bluetooth devices.
Switching the device off when not in use will help to
extend battery life. (Note that either or both devices can
be turned on and off using this switch). (See Activating
the WLAN Device on page 87 for more information)

Infrared Port
The IrDA-compatible port allows you to communicate
with another IrDA-compatible infrared device without a
cable. (See Infrared Port on page 45 for more information)

Air Vents
The air vents are used to cool the system to prevent
overheating

Modular Bay
The Modular Bay can accommodate one of the
following devices. (See Modular Bay Devices on page 18
for more information)

Modular DVD/CD-RW combo drive

Modular Dual-Layer Multi-Format DVD Writer

Modular Lithium ion battery

Weight Saver

Modular Bay Release Latch
The Modular Bay release latch releases the Modular Bay
device.

Microphone/Line-In Jack
The microphone/line-in jack allows you to connect an
external stereo microphone. (See Microphone/Line-In
Jack on page 46 for more information)

Headphone/Line-Out Jack
The headphone/line-out jack allows you to connect
headphones. (See Optical Digital Audio Connector on
page 46 for more information)

To protect your notebook from damage
and to optimize system performance, be
sure to keep all air all vents unobstructed,
clean, and clear of debris. This may
require periodic cleaning, depending upon
the environment in which the system is
used.

Do not operate the notebook in areas
where the air vents can be obstructed,
such as in tight enclosures or on soft
surfaces like a bed or cushion.
