Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing Griffin’s iTrip Auto Universal Plus. Now you can listen to your player through
your car’s stereo speakers. iTrip works with your player’s headphone jack and transmits the music
wirelessly to your FM receiver. Using the charge/sync cable supplied with your player, you can use iTrip to
charge your player’s battery while you listen.

iTrip’s controls are easy to use, and setup is a breeze. Here’s how to get started using iTrip:

Getting Started
1. Select an FM frequency on your car’s radio on which you hear nothing but static, with no audio
in the background. The ideal choice would be a frequency with nothing playing on any of the neighboring
frequencies. When in doubt, 87.9 is usually a good choice.

2. Plug iTrip’s “cigarette lighter” plug into your 12 Volt power outlet. Set your player’s volume between 1/2
and 3/4, and begin playing music. Plug iTrip’s 3.5mm audio connector into the headphone jack on your
player, and iTrip will begin transmitting.

3. Press iTrip’s + and - buttons until the frequency in iTrip’s display matches the one you chose on your
FM receiver, then press iTrip’s Select button once to lock in the setting. You should now hear your music
on your car stereo. Adjust your car’s radio volume to your liking.

Charging Your Player
The USB port on iTrip’s “cigarette lighter” plug can provide power to USB-powered players with
rechargeable batteries. Simply attach the charge/sync cable that was packaged with your player. After a
few seconds check your player’s indicator to confirm that it is charging.

Changing the Frequency
Near large cities where there are lots of radio stations crowding the dial, you may need to switch your
iTrip to a different frequency for a clearer signal. Follow steps 1 and 3, under “Getting Started” to set your
new station.

Choosing Stereo or Mono for Best Sound
iTrip lets you play audio in either stereo (LX) or monaural (DX) mode. Since some audio is almost identical
in either stereo or mono, and since mono (DX) produces a clearer signal, you may prefer to switch to DX
mode. To switch between modes, press and hold iTrip’s Select button for 3 seconds. The current mode
indicator (LX or DX) will flash in iTrip’s display. Press the + or - buttons to switch to the desired mode, then
press the Select button one more time to confirm the change.

Automatic Shutoff
After 50 seconds of silence, iTrip will automatically turn itself off. If your player’s volume is too low, or if
there’s a silent track in your playlist, iTrip may interpret this weak signal as silence and turn itself off. To
turn iTrip back on, turn up your player’s volume and restart some music, or disconnect and reconnect
iTrip to your car’s power outlet.
