The Meyer Sound HD-1 is an entirely
self-contained, high-definition monitor
system that is suitable for a wide variety
of critical sound reproduction applica-
tions, from near-field monitoring to
psychoacoustical research. It is optimized
to closely approximate a true point-
source radiator, and features a frequency
(amplitude) response of 32 Hz to 22 kHz.
The HD-1 comprises an 8-inch cone
low-frequency driver and dome tweeter
housed in a vented cabinet. An active
crossover, optimized pole-zero response
correction filters, loudspeaker element
protection circuitry and dual power
amplifiers are built directly into the
enclosure.
Both HD-1 drivers are of a proprietary
design and are individually factory-tested
for maximum linearity. Their magnet
structures employ sophisticated field-
cancelling techniques to minimize
magnetic leakage, and the cabinets may
be placed within two feet of sensitive color
video monitors.
The HD-1’s power amplifiers utilize
complementary power MOSFET output
stages; they operate class A at low-to-
moderate listening levels and class AB at
high levels. Input sensitivity is switchable
to either +4 dBu or -10 dBV.
