The 8340 Cinema Surround

Speaker offers high power handling

capability, high sensitivity and

extended bass response in an

extremely compact enclosure. The

two-way 8340 incorporates the

proven reliability and performance

features found in the industry stan-

dard JBL 8330 Surround Loudspeaker

System and is designed to accurately

reproduce the extended dynamic

range and frequency response charac-

teristics required by digital sound

formats.

The 8340 incorporates a high-

power, long-throw 250 mm (10 in)

low frequency transducer which

extends the frequency response to

below 50 Hz. The low frequency

driver features an SFG™ (Symmetrical

Field Geometry) magnet structure

which lowers second harmonic distor-

tion to inconsequential levels. The

high frequency section incorporates

a 19 mm (¾ in) compression driver/

horn combination capable of very

high output power. The true constant

directivity coverage (100° horizontal

by 60° vertical), combines with a very

smooth off-axis design in the cross-

over range to provide the same sound

character to all seats.
