This setting allows you to select desired options concerning with the speakers.

D. RANGE COMPRESSION

This setting provides optimal
audio quality for listening to
DVD VIDEO discs recorded in
Dolby Digital format, at low or
middle volume.

• AUTO

Audio is played back with the dynamic range
compressed
except when playing a disc recorded with Dolby
Digital 1- or 2-channel format.

• This function works only when

playing back a disc recorded with
Dolby Digital. The setting does not
affect audio from other discs.

• This function does not work when

the 3D PHONIC function is
activated (see page 41).

• ON

Audio is always played back with the dynamic range
compressed.

MODE

You can select the speaker
configuration type according
to your speaker systems.
Normally, set to [5.1 CH.].

• 5.1 CH.

When you connect to a 5.1-channel amplifier and use
the front, rear, center and sub-woofer speakers.

• When selecting [5.1 CH.], set

[ANALOG OUT] to [MULTI
CHANNEL] in the [AUDIO]
preference display (see page 60).

• The signal is always fed from the

SUBWOOFER jack on the rear
panel of the unit when
"SUBWOOFER" is selected.

• If you connect the unit’s digital

output to an external Dolby Digital
or DTS decoder (and set [DIGITAL
AUDIO OUTPUT] to [STREAM/
PCM] in the [AUDIO] preference
display), the speaker settings
shown left is not effective. Make
the speaker settings of the external
decoder properly.

• EXPERT

When you want to make fine tuning to match your
speakers. The SIZE, DELAY, and LEVEL setting items
are available.

SIZE

You can set the speaker sizes
according to your speakers.

See page 63 for details about the speaker size
setting.

• When playing back a disc with

either [CENTER SPEAKER] or
[REAR SPEAKER] set to [NONE],
the audios from the center speaker
or rear speakers are output from
the front speakers.

DELAY

You can set the speaker delay
time according to your
speakers.

See page 64 for details about the speaker delay time
setting.
