This chapter tells you how to install iPlanet Web Server. It contains the following

Installing on Linux
The following sections describe the installation of the iPlanet Web Server.
Logging In as the Correct User
Before you install the server, you must log in as root , unless you meet both of
these conditions:
• You plan to install the server on a port greater than 1024.
• The location where you plan to install the server (the server root directory) is
writable with your non-root login.
CAUTION Do not install iPlanet Web Server on an NFS-mounted drive due to
potential security and file locking restrictions on remote partitions.
