Electric Start (XTR-7 Only)

3. Start the engine by activating key switch; release
as soon as engine starts.
NOTE: Do not crank the engine continuously for

does not start, wait 30 seconds before

Recoil Start

the equipment this engine powers.
3. Pull the starter handle straight out with a smooth,
steady motion.
NOTE: Extend the starting rope periodically and
check its condition. If the rope is frayed, have it
replaced immediately by a Kohler Authorized
Service Center.

WARNING: Accidental Starts!
Before extending and checking the retractable starter rope,
remove the spark plug lead to prevent the engine from
starting accidentally.
Primer Bulb Start (If Equipped)

Manual Choke Start

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (refer to the
operating instructions of the equipment this
engine powers).
Śǯȱ ˜ȱœŠ›ȱŠȱŒ˜•ȱŽ—’—Žǰȱ–˜ŸŽȱ‘›˜Ĵ•ŽȦŒ‘˜”Žȱ•ŽŸŽ›ȱ
to FAST/CHOKE ON position. To start a warm
engine, no choke is required.
Cold Engine: Start as follows
