Engine will not crank or cranks very

slow.

1. Check for loose or faulty battery

cable connections.

2. The battery may be faulty.

3. Check the ammeter to see if the

battery is charging.

If not, the

charging circuit may be defec-

tive.

1. If the battery is replaced or tests

good, then the charging circuit

may be faulty.

Perform the

Charging Circuit Test.

2. The starter motor or starter

solenoid may be faulty.

3. The Engine may be hard to

crank due to a mechanical fail-

ure in the engine.

The Engine shuts off.

1. The Engine may be low on or out

of fuel.

2. The Oil level may be low. Check

and fill to proper level.

3. The fuel filter may be clogged.

1. The oil pressure switch may be

faulty. Replace if necessary.

2. The fuel shut off solenoid may

be faulty.

Engine

1. The fuel filter may be clogged.

Replace if necessary.

2. The air filter may be clogged.

Replace if necessary.

3. The spark plug(s) may be faulty.

Replace if necessary.

1. Due to wear, the engine may be

in need of repair.
