You can choose settings appropriate for taking pictures of dark scenes,
such as nightscapes.

Press the four-way controller (3) in A mode.

The Capture Mode Palette appears.

Use the four-way controller (2345) to select A
(Night Scene),
x (Candlelight) or y (Fireworks).

Press the 4 button.

The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to capture status.

Press the shutter release button halfway.

The focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus.

Press the shutter release button fully.

The picture is taken.

Taking Pictures of Dark Scenes
(Night Scene/Candlelight/Fireworks Mode)

Use this mode when taking pictures of night views.

This mode is ideal for capturing a candlelit atmosphere.

y

Use this mode to take spectacular pictures of fireworks.

• The shutter speed is slower when taking pictures of dark scenes.
• To prevent camera shake, use a tripod and the self-timer function.

• The number of recorded pixels is set at 1280×960 in x mode.
• You can assign the y mode to the Capture Mode Palette if it does

not appear there already. (1p.57)

• The sensitivity is set at 50 in y mode.
