Receive mode
Problem
● If you want to set the FAX ONLY, TEL/FAX or TAD/FAX
(KX-FP185/KX-FM189 only) mode:
— Select the desired mode using feature #77 (p. 71), and
— Press
to turn on the arrow ( ▼ ) on
the right of the display.
Display:

● If you want to set the TEL mode:
— Press
to turn off the arrow ( ▼ ) on
the right of the display.

● The unit is not in AUTO ANSWER mode. Press
to turn on the arrow ( ▼ ) on the right of
the display.

Cause & Remedy
I cannot select the desired
receive mode.
The other party complains that
they cannot send a document.
Fax – receiving (cont.)
Problem
● The other party sent a faint document. Ask them to send a
clearer copy of the document.
● The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 82).
● Some paper has instructions recommending which side to
print on. Try turning the paper over.
● Check the document of the other party.
● If a blank sheet is ejected after the received document is
printed out, the receiving reduction rate is not
programmed correctly. Program the proper rate in feature
#36 (p. 68).
● The other party placed the document in their fax machine
the wrong way. Check with the other party.
Cause & Remedy
The recording image is faint.
The printing quality is poor.
A blank sheet is ejected.

Copying
Problem
● You cannot make a copy during programming. Make the
copy after programming or stop the programming.
● The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 82).
● The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (p. 82).
Cause & Remedy
The unit does not make a copy.
A dirty pattern or a black line
appears on the copied
document.
The copied image is distorted.
