Receiving mode

I cannot select the desired receiving mode.

L If you want to set TAD/FAX or FAX ONLY

mode:

select the desired mode using feature #77
(page 74), and

press {AUTO ANSWER} repeatedly until
the desired mode is displayed.

L If you want to set TEL mode:

press {AUTO ANSWER} repeatedly until
TEL mode is displayed.

The other party complains that they cannot
send a document.

L The unit is not in TAD/FAX or FAX ONLY

mode. Select the desired mode using feature
#77 and press {AUTO ANSWER} repeatedly
until TAD/FAX or FAX ONLY mode is
displayed.

Copying

The unit does not make a copy.

L You cannot make a copy during

programming. Make the copy after
programming or stop programming.

A black line, a white line or smudge appears
on the copied document.

L The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them

(page 87).

The copied image is distorted.

L The thermal head is dirty. Clean it (page 88).

The printing quality is poor.

Note:
Please do not reuse the ink film!
For best results, use genuine Panasonic
replacement film. Refer to page 7 for further
details.

L Some paper has instructions recommending

which side to print on. Try turning the paper
over.

L You may have used paper with a cotton

and/or fibre content that is over 20%, such as
letterhead or resume paper. We recommend
smooth paper such as “Hammermill Jet Print”
for clearer printing.

Answering device

I cannot retrieve recorded messages from a
remote location.

L Press the remote operation ID correctly and

firmly (page 60).

Messages in the mailbox do not play back.

L The mailbox password is wrong. Enter the

correct password.

on page 73.

For mailbox 2 password, see feature #52
on page 73.

The other party complains that they cannot
leave a voice message.

L The memory is full. Erase unnecessary

messages (page 58, 64).

If a power failure occurs

L The unit will not function.
L The unit is not designed for making

emergency telephone calls when the power
fails. Alternative arrangements should be
made for access to emergency services.

L Fax transmission and reception will be

interrupted.

L If the delayed transmission (feature #25 on

page 71) is programmed and the start time is
passed during a power failure, transmission
will be attempted soon after power is
restored.

L If any fax documents are stored in the

memory, they will be lost. When power is
restored, a power down report will be printed
out stating which contents in the memory
have been erased.
