The digital zoom is set to O (On) in the default settings. To take pictures
using only the optical zoom, set the digital zoom to P (Off) .

Press the 3 button in A mode or C mode.
The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears.

Use the four-way controller (23) to select [Digital
Zoom].

Use the four-way controller (45)
to select O (On) or P (Off).

Press the shutter release button
halfway.
The digital zoom function setting is saved
and the camera returns to capture status.
Refer to Step 6 of “How to Use the Menus”
(p.45) for other operations after the setting has been made.
