Qualifications and Assumptions
This guide assumes that you are familiar with your
system and network layout. Installing the LAN card
and adding the Silentwriter 1765 to your network will
be easier if you
•
have used your network operating system
• have the proper network software
• have a fully operational system
In addition, to complete installation and configuration
on the network you must have access to the supervisor
account, or have access to an account that has
supervisor and print server operator privileges.
Where to Go Next
The rest of this document describes the tasks necessary
to complete network installation of the Silentwriter
1765. You will need to complete the following steps:
1.
Set up the Silentwriter 1765 or upgrade the
Silentwriter 1760. See Chapter 2, “1765 Set Up.”
2. Install the NEC 1765 Administration software and
NEC 1765 Client software. See Chapter 3,
“Installing NEC 1765 Software.”
3. Connect the Silentwriter to your Network. See
Chapter 4, “Configuring Your Network Printer.”
4. Use NEC 1765 Administration software to configure
the network and printer. See Chapter 5, “NEC 1765
Administration Software.”
Once the Silentwriter has been connected to the network
and configured properly, users can use NEC 1765 Client
software to manage individual printing jobs. See
Chapter 6, “NEC 1765 Client Software.”
