Live View lets you shoot while looking through a high-contrast,
color-rich LCD screen. The E-420 features Autofocus Live View.
A high-speed Imager Autofocus allows you to view subjects in
focus on the screen the instant the shutter button is pressed
halfway. You don’t have to rely on the viewfinder so you can
watch your subject more closely. The E-420 captures all the
action and takes photos the same as you would with any point-
and-shoot camera.
Better images with Face Detection
and Shadow Adjustment Technology.
You’ll find two features integrated into the E-420’s Live View
technology that provide exceptionally clear, crisp photos. Face
Detection targets and locks on up to eight faces in a frame to
ensure they’re always in focus. Shadow Adjustment Technology
captures detail in bright areas of a frame and brings out details
hidden by shadows. You’ll get images — especially faces and
backgrounds — with well-balanced brightness.
HyperCrystal™ II lets you see
and shoot with amazing clarity.
The E-420 is equipped with a 2.7-inch HyperCrystal™ II LCD
featuring high-definition 230,000-dot resolution. With
outstanding contrast ratio, sharp color reproduction and a 176°
viewing angle, the E-420 clearly displays images even in bright
sunlight. Shooting from ground level or over your head is
effortless with Olympus’s Autofocus Live View.
Focus with greater precision.
Magnify the image on the LCD up to 10 times its original size to
help you focus more precisely. You can also autofocus after
magnifying the image.
Perfect Shot Preview: Instant creativity.
Use Perfect Shot Preview to see the effects of four different
exposure or white balance settings. Set the adjustments by
selecting one of the images on the screen.

Once dust gets on the image sensor, it shows up in the same spot
on every picture. Our best-in-class Dust Reduction System
includes a Supersonic Wave Filter (SSWF) located in front of the
image sensor that vibrates at an astonishing 30,000 times per
second. Dust is shaken off so you’ll always get spot-free photos.
Built-in Flash
The E-420’s built-in flash uses a commander function for
combined operation with optional wireless flashes that can be
arranged in three groups.

ISO Sensitivity
Ramp up the ISO to 1600 while our TruePic™ III processor
keeps noise to a minimum.
