Super Audio CD gives you the next step in the evolution of pristine sound.
All channels provide for up to 100 kHz frequency response and a sampling
rate of 2.822 MHz—that’s 64 times that of a regular CD! A multichannel
Super Audio CD can provide you with up to 6 channels of
high-resolution audio in addition to a regular CD layer for
playback on any existing CD player.
DVD-Audio—Unprecedented Fidelity

DVD-Audio’s data-loss-free reproduction of 192 kHz/24-bit 2-channel stereo
or 96 kHz/24-bit 6-channel surround sound recreates music with such clarity,
it sounds as if it were played live in your own home. Add on a super-high
frequency rate of 192,000 samples per second—4.3 times
greater than an audio CD—and you have a musical
experience that goes beyond just listening.
Video Circuit On/Off Control (DV-SP800)
For the best audio quality possible, you can turn off the video
circuitry when using the DV-SP800 as an audio-only player,
eliminating the possibility of interference between the player’s

Component Video Output
This three-jack video output gives you high-quality, single-
cable connection to the latest TVs, projectors and
monitors. It also brings out the full potential of your
DVDs by sending three extremely clean, separate RGB
(red, green, and blue) signals to your TV’s picture tube. This eliminates the
usual NTSC artifacts, such as dot crawl and moiré (wavelike or watered
appearance), and gives stunning color fidelity with virtually no discernible
video noise.
Picture CD Capability
Insert a disc containing picture files into a compatible Onkyo DVD player and
relive the memories of your last holiday, birthday or any time immortalized
on digital film. These players are compatible with FUJICOLOR
® CDs, Kodak ®
Picture CDs, and CD-R/RWs encoded with JPEG picture files, so you can
bring those timeless moments to life on your viewing screen. Viewing these
pictures is simple with the menu mode, which lists the
pictures on the disc for fast and easy selection.

PAL/NTSC Progressive Scan
Most DVDs are “progressive”—meaning they produce video in complete
frames. But to be compatible with all TVs, the DVD signal must be
interlaced—a method where the picture is split into two fields and then
blurred together to look like one. Progressive Scan, however, retrieves the
original progressive signal, and on such compatible displays as HDTV, plasma
or digital TV and high-end projectors, “paints” all the visible lines on the
screen in a single pass—so you’ll enjoy a scan-line-free image, with
spectacularly clear color, no motion artifacts, and details so sharp they seem
as if they’re etched onto the screen.
192 kHz/24-Bit Audio DAC
Performing at a full 192 kHz/24-bit level of resolution, these state-of-the-art
digital-to-analog converters deliver audio performance that is second to
none. They boast a higher dynamic range than standard D/A converters, and
