Chapter 8 Using Advanced Settings

MAC Cloning

A

MAC

(Media Access Control)

address is a unique hexadecimal code that identifies

a device on a network. All networkable devices have a

MAC

address. When replac-

ing another network device with the Router, the installation process can be simpli-
fied by copying the

MAC

address of the existing computer to the Router. To do this:

1. Click MAC Cloning in the Advanced screen. The “

MAC

Cloning” screen

appears.

2. Enter the MAC address to be cloned in the “To Physical Address” text boxes.

3. Click Clone My MAC Address to capture the

MAC

address of the computer cur-

rently accessing the MegaControl Panel. The Router will now have the new

MAC

address.

ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) Table

Clicking ARP Table in the Advanced screen generates the “

ARP

Table” screen. This

screen displays the

IP

and

MAC

addresses of each

DHCP

connection.
