Q: What is the difference between direct vent boilers and direct exhaust boilers?

A: Direct vent boilers operate with a sealed vent pipe, and an intake pipe for combustion air. Examples are Ultra Gas, GV, CGs, Ultra Oil direct vent. Direct

exhaust boilers operate with a sealed vent pipe and utilize combustion air from inside the boiler room. The CGi is a direct exhaust boiler. The GV and CGs

Q: Can I use 2” PVC to vent an Ultra Gas boiler?

A: Yes, the Ultra 80 and 105, Series 3 boiler is now approved for use with 2” vent when the vent length is less than 30 feet. Consult the boiler manual

Q: If I use a new HydroStat aquastat (381-356-530) on an older oil boiler, will I have the low water cutoff function?

A: The HydroStat will work on any oil boiler, but will not have the low water cutoff function unless the well is changed to the HydroStat Electro-Well.

Weil-McLain part number for the HydroStat Electro-Well. is 592-300-026 for water boilers or 592-300-027 for water boilers with tankless heaters.

Q: Can I use the Ultra Series 3 with a 3 zone circulator system?

A: The Ultra Series 3 “U-Control” can control 3 circulators. One circulator MUST be the boiler circulator, so only two circulators connections remain.

One may be used for domestic and the other for a zone, or both may be used for 2 separate zones. If more circulator connections are required a

circulator controller would be needed.
