Magnetic Declination Compensation

Compensate for an object’s bearing by subtracting westerly magnetic

declination or adding easterly magnetic declination with the magnetic bearing.

Example 1

- Westerly magnetic declination = 23°, Magnetic bearing = 323°.

- True bearing: 323°- 23° = 300°.

Example 2

- Easterly magnetic declination = 22°, Magnetic bearing = 278°.

- True bearing: 278° + 22° = 300°.

• This watch will compensate the compass bearing automatically if the user

inputs the magnetic declination angle into the watch at the Magnetic
Declination setting mode.

• Check the “Calibrating the Compass” section on p.10 for more details

of the calibration.
