5 Preparing to print
Preparing to print
To set up your EX7750, you must perform the following tasks:
• Unpack the EX7750 and the printer
• Prepare the printer and configure printer network settings
• Connect the EX7750 to the printer and a functioning network
• Print EX7750 test pages to verify the connection
• Configure the network server
• Set up the EX7750 from the Control Panel or from the Fiery Advanced Controller
Interface (FACI)
• Prepare client workstations for printing
An explanation of each task follows. For some tasks additional information is provided
in the referenced documentation.
Other Network Requirements
UNIX (TCP/IP) workstation • Standard TCP/IP connectivity (for example, RedHat Linux version 7.2)
• TCP/IP printing software that conforms to RFC1179 (Berkeley lpd protocol)
IPX (Novell) network • Novell server: Novell NetWare software version 5.x
• Bindery
• NDPS gateway in NetWare 5.x
• Support for Ethernet SNAP, Ethernet II, Ethernet 802.3, and Ethernet 802.2 frame types
