Improving outcomes overnight
Research indicates a significant connection between sleep apnoea and cardiovascular complications. One
study revealed that 50 percent of patients suffering congestive heart failure also had sleep apnoea, and
many studies show links between sleep apnoea and other cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurocognitive
complications.
2
Yet most people are never screened for sleep disorders. Over 80 percent of individuals with moderate to
severe sleep apnoea have not been clinically diagnosed by their healthcare providers.
3
The new WideMed Morpheus Hx sleep apnoea diagnostic program available exclusively with
the MARS system gives physicians the ability to detect, treat, or refer their cardiac patients
who have sleep apnoea, right from their bedside monitors, using real-time monitoring data.
The new MARS VSL offers clinicians many benefits, including:
• The convenience of sleep apnoea diagnosis right from the GE-monitored bed
connected to CARESCAPE CIC Pro, with no need to move the patient to a sleep clinic
• Automatic results reports, including apnoea hypopnea index, sleep
staging (sleep and wake) and respiratory events detection
• The ease of prescribing an APAP device for immediate treatment
• Early diagnosis of sleep apnoea translates to improved cardiac
disease outcomes
4
• Treatment of sleep disorders helps reduce hospitalization
in cardiovascular patients
