+Protect

Water is a paradox – vital to life, yet a potentially destructive force. Many

infrastructure failures can be traced to inadequate stormwater and fl oodwater

management. Our hydrologists and hydraulic engineers use the latest technology

to model the outcome of rainfall events and protect infrastructure, people and

property from fl ood damage. Through fl oodplain mapping, levee design and

certifi cation, watershed master planning, bank stabilization, and design of storm

sewer and pumping systems, we’ve helped numerous communities protect

critical infrastructure and public/private property.

+Prevent

Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) prevent erosion of valuable land

and the degradation of precious water resources. Our staff includes nationally

recognized experts in Low Impact Development techniques. We tailor every

BMP application to meet the attributes and limitations of its location. We’ve

designed many award-winning BMP projects involving rain gardens, infi ltration

basins, fi ltration trenches, grit chambers and treatment trains. We have also

designed ponds, enhanced sand fi lters, swales, wetlands, and vegetative BMPs

where appropriate. In all cases, we understand that no BMP can truly be called

“sustainable” unless it is affordable, constructible and maintainable for the client.

+Restore

Some of our most rewarding projects have involved the restoration of aquatic

systems to their natural ecologic functions. These projects have included stream

and river bank stabilization, re-establishment of lost meanders, pond and

lake restoration, and restored wetlands. Communities often rally around such

projects, invigorated civically by the pride that arises from shared environmental

stewardship. Many municipalities also recognize the economic and health benefi t

of restoring water resource systems that serve as drinking water sources. For

private developers, a restored water feature can differentiate a development as a

more attractive and livable environment than competing developments.
