Service Codes

Group: 5C! (Codes 33, 34)

PCU Sensor (Codes 33, 34)

With ignition off, inspect socket connections at

ECU connector and at PCU sensor 3-way.

Are

connections

mechanically and

electrically

sound?

Repair

conditions as

necessary.

Is there

continuity?

Disconnect the ECU connector

and the PCU sensor connector.

Inspect and
repair faulty

harness.

Check for short circuits between each

pair of PCU sensor harness pins:

A and B
B and C
C and A

Are any

shorted?

Reconnect ECU connector.

Check voltage between PCU sensor harness

pin B and ground with ignition switch on.

Is voltage

between 4.9 and

5.1V?

Check harness inside PCU

cover for continuity:

A to A
B to B
C to C

Is there

continuity?

Repair mini-harness inside cover.

Are any

shorted?

Check harness inside
PCU cover for shorts:

A to B
B to C
C to A

Replace PCU sensor.

Is the active

fault cleared?

Complete

Replace ECU.

Note: ECUs are not a typical cause of

problems. If an ECU is replaced, the

system should be carefully rechecked

to make sure the problem has been

fixed and does not reoccur.

Check continuity between the

following points:

PCU Sensor ECU Harness
Harness Pin Connector Pin

C H1
B H2
A H3

Repair mini-harness inside cover.

Replace ECU.

Note: ECUs are not a typical cause of

problems. If an ECU is replaced, the

system should be carefully rechecked

to make sure the problem has been

fixed and does not reoccur.
