1990 AND EARLIER MODEL 35 JEEP BILL OF MATERIAL APPLICATIONS:
Due to a situation of ring gear bolts backing out, we have been using a longer bolt for some
ratios (“fast ratios”). Some ring gears have been made thicker to accommodate this longer
bolt. Additionally, we had to move the flange of the differential case back to achieve proper
set-up during installation. The thickness of the “slow ratio” ring gear was not changed;
however, the holes were drilled deeper to accept the longer bolts.

If you need to replace the ring and pinion set and/or the differential case for a pre-1990
application and the original part numbers are no longer available, you can use components
made after 1990. You must, however, replace both the ring and pinion set and the differential
case.

If part numbers are available, it is best to replace old parts with the same part number. Listed
below are the gear sets with short bolts that are still available and those that are replaced by
kits with long bolts.
