Affected Models: D/R344, 404, 405, DSP/RSP40, 41, DST40, 41, DSH/RSH40, 44, 19060S, 21060S,
22060S, P20060S, P210060S, and P22060S
A product design change to carrier bearings was made to the models listed above. In order to meet more
demanding application and performance expectations, Dana has now implemented the use of new
design, case hardened carrier bearings beginning as early as May 2011. The change to new bearings will
impact service parts in a variety of ways. In some cases, new service items have been released to
address the most important issue of keeping mating bearing cones and cups from the same supplier
together. All part changes have been outlined below to minimize any potential mixing of bearing parts
from different suppliers.
•
Bearings are manufactured and used in sets to maximize full life of the product
•
NOT using SPECIFIED bearings in Dana carriers can create potential noise issues or lead to premature
bearing failures and affect the warranty of product
•
Mixing of bearing cups and cones can create potential noise issues or lead to premature bearing failures
•
These New and Old bearing cones and cups are manufactured by different suppliers
•
Superseding OLD individual part numbers directly to the NEW individual part numbers could lead to mixing
of parts that could lead to potential failures.

GENUINE BEARING KITS: Dana will begin to change the bill of materials of the
service kits listed below and will do so on a running basis. Spicer
®
service kit contents will always contain
approved mating cones and cups.
