This battery charger is the newest battery charger with LCD display and recharges 1 to 4 AAA, AA, C or D type
batteries, and 1 or 2 x E-block 9V batteries. The battery capacity and status are displayed. The VL6278 also features
negative ∆V cut-off, discharge and safety timer functions.

2. Safety Instructions

Use this charger indoors with NiCd or NiMH rechargeable batteries only. Attempting to charge other type of

batteries may result in personal injury and damage to the charger.

Recharge only one type of battery (NiCd or NiMH) at each time.

Do not expose the charger to rain or moisture.

Remove the power cord form the mains when not in use.

Never use an extension cord or any attachment not recommended by the manufacturer. Doing so may result in

risk of fire, electric shock or injury to persons.

Do not operate the charger if it has been subjected to shock or damage. Take it to a qualified serviceman for
repair.

Do not disassemble the charger. Incorrect reassemble may result in risk of electric shock or fire.

Unplug the charger from the mains before cleaning.

Place this unit in a vertical or floor mount position.

3. Operating Instructions

Connect the power adapter with the battery charger.

Plug the power adapter into the mains. The LED indicator will light yellow and the LCD will flash (the LED
corresponding to the E-block battery slot will not light).

Recharging AA / AAA / C / D type batteries

Insert the AA / AAA / C / D type batteries into the slots. If the battery is not suitable for recharge, the
corresponding LED indicator will flash red and the LCD will display BAD.

If the battery is suitable for charging (battery voltage is within the permitted range), fast charging mode starts.
The LED indicator lights red and the LCD displays battery status bottom-up. The LCD stops flashing for
several seconds to indicate the battery capacity at each cycle.

When the battery is full or the predetermined charging time (6h controlled by a safety timer) has elapsed, the

charger will switch to trickle charge mode. The LED indicator lights green and the LCD displays OK.
