1. Introduction

To all residents of the European Union

Important environmental information about this product

This symbol on the device or the package indicates that disposal of the

device after its lifecycle could harm the environment. Do not dispose of

the unit (or batteries) as unsorted municipal waste; it should be taken to

a specialized company for recycling.

This device should be returned to your distributor or to a local recycling

service. Respect the local environmental rules.

If in doubt, contact your local waste disposal authorities.

Thank you for buying the VL9878! Please read the manual thoroughly before

bringing this device into service. If the device was damaged in transit, don't install

or use it and contact your dealer.

2. Safety Instructions

• Use this charger with NiCd or NiMH rechargeable batteries only. Attempting to

charge other type of batteries may result in personal injury and damage to the

charger.

• Recharge only one type of battery (NiCd or NiMH) at each time.

• Do not expose the charger to rain or moisture.

• Remove the power cord form the mains when not in use.

• Never use an extension cord or any attachment not recommended by the

manufacturer. Doing so may result in risk of fire, electric shock or injury to

persons.

• Do not operate the charger if it has been subjected to shock or damage. Take it

to a qualified serviceman for repair.

• Do not disassemble the charger. Incorrect reassemble may result in risk of

electric shock or fire.

• Unplug the charger from the mains before cleaning.

• Place this unit in a vertical or floor mount position.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this

manual.

• Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.

• All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons.

• Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an

unauthorised way will void the warranty.

• Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered

by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing

defects or problems.

4. Operating Instructions

1. Insert, beginning from the left, 2, 4, 6 or 8 rechargeable NiCd / NiMH

batteries into the battery compartment respecting the polarity. For charging

AAA-type batteries, pull down the adjustable battery contact plate first. The

batteries will hold firmly inside the compartment.
Use at home or office
a. Connect the supplied AC adapter’s plug into the jack on the back of the

charger.

b. Plug the AC adapter into the mains.
