RA2 - Handheld Remote Control System

The RA2 remote control system comprises a WP2P module and a RA2 handheld controller.
The RA2 is a small, handheld transmitter that operates up to two outputs of the WP2P module
over a range of around 20m.
The outputs are controlled from the two buttons labelled “A” and “B”.
Multiple RA2s can be used in any system.

For maximum flexibility, there are two operating modes and wiring options for the RA2 remote
control system. There is no selection required, it just depends on how you wire the output
relays.

Mode 1

– On/Off “latched” Control

The device to be controlled is connected to Relay #3 Output.
This is ideal for turning a single device (eg pump) on and off remotely.

Pressing button A on the RA2 will close Relay #3 and turn the device ON.
Pressing button B on the RA2 will open Relay #3 and turn the device OFF.

Mode 2

– Pulsed Control

The two devices to be controlled are connected to Relay #1 and/or Relay #2
This is ideal for opening two sets of electric gates remotely.

Pressing button A on the RA2 will close Relay #1 for 1 second.
Pressing button B on the RA2 will close Relay #2 for 1 second.

Lockout Function.
The optional lockout function provides a method of preventing RA2s operating the outputs.
An example is preventing staff opening one of two electric gates during weekends.
To lockout a function, install a suitable mechanical switch), to the corresponding input.
When the switch is closed the associated relay output will be locked out and not function.
Input #1 locks out Relay #1, Input #2 locks out Relay #2.

Key-switch open RA2 can operate Relay 1

Key-switch closed RA2 cannot operate Relay 1

If this lockout function is not required, simply leave the WP2P modules inputs unconnected.

RA2 – Battery Notes

The RA2 is powered by 2x AAA 1.5V Alkaline batteries. Before using the RA2 please install
the supplied batteries.
To install or replace batteries, unscrew the 3 small Phillips Head screws from the rear of the
RA2 and remove the back cover.
Carefully install the batteries ensuring correct polarity and that the insulation strip between the
batteries is installed. Replace the back cover and the retaining screws. Do not over tighten.
