A practical approach to selection is to have in mind
a FIRST CHOICE permanent luting cement
In general, your first choice cement should be the best cement for your most
frequent or routine procedures, and your most commonly used type of restoration
and material - whether metal, resin or ceramic. Ideally, it should be as close as
possible to ‘multi-purpose’.
The cement must also be safe to use on patients, ideally have intrinsic long-term
benefits and, most importantly for routine procedures, it should strike the right
balance between performance and ease/cost in use. Only if your first choice is not
suitable for a patient or procedure should you move on to other options.
