TORQUE-PRESSURE CONVERSION
To use the chart, draw a line from the diameter at the tong through the desired torque,
extending to the pressure line. Read the corresponding pressure from the chart.
The required pressure to obtain a desired torque can also be determined by the following
equation:

= T/(0.0823*D+6.829)
Where P is the required pressure in psi, T is the desired torque in foot-pounds, and D is the
diameter to which the tong is attached in inches.
To determine the torque obtained by a known pressure, the following equation is used:
T = P*(0.0823*D +6.829)
Where P is the observed pressure in psi, T is the torque in foot-pounds, and D is the diameter
to which the tong is attached in inches.
