7. To install trim, secure body cap (16) in a vise

with the FNPT port oriented downwards. Slide
the piston spring (18) and spring spacer (24)
into the top of the body cap. Ensure the "fl at"
surface side of spring spacer is resting on the
spring.

8. Apply Christolube or equivalent to piston and

slide the u-cup seal (22) (open end of cup
facing away from the spring spacer) over the
lower end of the piston assembly.

9. Carefully lower the piston assembly (17)

down into the body cap. NOTE: Piston should
move freely up and down inside the body.

10. Apply Formula 8 thread sealant to the body

cap (6) male threads. Lift body up directly
above body cap. Slowly lower body down
to engage with the threads. Ensure that the
upper part of the piston assembly passes
thru the center opening of the body. NOTE:
While engaging the threads - may encounter
minimum resistance from upward force of the
psiton spring.
With hand pressure continue
to press body down evenly until threads are
fully engaged. Tighten to 50-55 ft.lbs. (68-74
N-m). These two parts seal metal-to-metal
with no gasket.

11. Clean fl at mating surfaces of body (1) to body

cap (6) shoulder. Be careful not to scratch
either surface.

12. Reinstall diaphragm subassembly per Sec-

tion VI.B. Steps 10-15.

button (5) is laying fl at on top of spring.

14. Rotate the spring chamber (2) CW by hand

into the threaded portion of the body (1)
ensuring not to cross thread. Continue ro tat-
ing CW until fi rmly seated against the upper
di a phragm gasket (12). Tighten to 30-35 ft-lbs
(41-47 N-m) torque.

15. Apply Christolube or equivalent to threads of

adjusting screw (3) and install ad just ing screw
with locknut (4) into the spring chamber (2).

C. Trim Replacement:

1. Trim inspection requires that the diaphragm

sub as sem bly be removed. Refer to previous
pro ce dure, Sec tion VI.B. Steps 1-8.

2. Inspect seating surface of plug (14) and mat-

ing seating surface of piston (17). If either
seating surface shows signs of erosion/wear,
the plug (14) and piston assembly (17) should
be replaced.

3. To remove piston assembly, secure body

(1) in a vise with the body cap (16) oriented
down wards.

CAUTION

To prevent damage to the body, use soft jaws when secur-
ing body in a vise. Position body so that vise does not
close over the inlet and the outlet connections.

4. Loosen and remove body cap carefully.

NOTE: Main tain fi rm grasp of body cap (16).

After dis en gage ment, body cap, piston spring

(18), spring spacer (24), u-cup seal (22) and

piston assembly (17) could fall out of body.

5. Inspect TFE seating surface on the piston

assembly (17).

NOTE: The pis ton (17) assembly can not be
dis-assembled. If the TFE seat is damaged,
re place the entire piston assembly.

6. Clean body (1) cavity. Clean all parts to be

reused. NOTE: Regulator originally sup plied
as “oxygen clean”, main te nance must include
a lev el of clean li ness equal to Cashco's clean-
ing stan dard #S-1134. Contact factory for
