Metallic electrode 53 54

Introduction
The 53 54 is a gold low maintenance

electrode for clean waters

SAFETY NOTE

Before use with hazardous substanc-
es, find out about the relevant haz-
ards, protective measures, and what
to do in an emergency.

Electrode preparation
• Remove the storage protector

.

Installation
In immersion, insertion, flotation hous-
ings, etc. with PG 13,5 thread.

See Housing instruction manual.

In some cases the electrode is installed,
with the help of sockets and adapters,
directly onto pipes.
Cable. They are connected to coaxial
cables with an AS9 connector.

Calibration

See pH-meter instruction manual.

Measurements. Recommendations
• During measurement the samples must

be slightly stirred.

• The sample must cover the electrode’s

diaphragm

.

• After measurement, rinse the electrode

with distilled water. Dry it with soft tis-
sue.

• Between measurements the electrode

should be immersed in aqueous solu-
tion. The most appropriate place is the
storage protector with some electrolyte.

Maintenance
• Diaphragm cleaning: use the diaphragm

cleaning solution, code LZW9600.

• Gold ring cleaning: can be ribbed with soft

abrasive, for example tooth paste.

Troubleshooting
... the pH-meter always measures the

same value.

Short circuit in the electrode, cable or
connector.
Substitute the electrode.

... fortuitous reading.

Broken cable.
Substitute the electrode.

... very slow response.

Dirt on the diaphragm and/or the met-
alic ring.
Reference system worn out.
Clean, regenerate or replace the
electrode.

Storage
The connector should be protected from
humidity by the protective cap

.

Place the electrode in the storage protector

with KCl 3M.

Life of an electrode
The life expectancy of the electrode could
be indefinite when the suitable mainte-
nance is applied.
