TA1 Operating Instructions

Since the TA1 offers level control of the balanced input
and output signals, the device is not limited to telecon
ferencing applications. It can also be used to include
any balanced or unbalanced line level signal into the
LecNet automatic mixing algorithm.

The TA1 is connected to a LecNet automatic mixer via
the Expansion port, i.e. TA1’s EXPANSION OUT port is
connected to the mixer’s EXPANSION IN port. The AUTO
MIX switch determines if the equipment connected to
the mixer will participate in the automatic mixing algo
rithm. The TA1 is connected to the Audio/Video
Teleconferencing Hybrid or other audio device via the
INPUTand the OUTPUT XLR jacks in a fully balanced
form:

Pin 1 — Ground
Pin 2 — Signal Hi
Pin 3 — Signal Low.

If the device connected to the TA1 has unbalanced Input/
Output connectors, pins 3 & 1 should be jumpered on the
TA1 INPUT XLR jack with the input signal applied to pin
2(+) and pin 1(-). To connect the TA1 output to an unbal
anced load, no jumpers are required. Simply connect the
load to the TA1 OUTPUT XLR pin 2 (+) and pin 1(-).

The level of these signals is controlled via the level poten
tiometers located near the XLR jacks.

The default state of the TA1 enables 3-site bridging
with a LecNet automatic mixer, the TH3 telephone
hybrid, and a video codec. To disable this feature, the
two jumpers shown above must be in the OFF posi
tion. Remove the screws on the front panel and rear
side panels and slide the chassis out of the housing
for access to the internal jumpers.
