Audio Settings (cont.)

Digital Audio Output

Sets the audio signal from the coaxial and optical

digital audio outputs.

• Use the / buttons to select Off, PCM, or All.

- Select “Off” if you are not using the digital

audio outputs.

- Select “PCM” (or Pulse Code Modulation) if

the digital audio output is connected to a 2-

channel digital AV preamp.

- Select “All” if the digital audio output is con-

nected to an AV preamp with a Dolby Digital

or DTS surround sound processor.

Night Mode

Reduces the dynamic range (the difference between

the softest and loudest audio portions) of a DVD

sound track. This is a convenient feature for watch-

ing movies late at night.

• Use the / buttons to select On or Off.

Down Sampling

Down samples high definition audio signals if your AV

preamp is not capable of decoding them.

• Use the / buttons to select On or Off.

- Select “On” if your preamp is NOT capable

of handling 96 kHz signals. The DVD Player

will automatically down sample any 96 kHz

signals to 48 kHz so your system can decode

them.

- Select “Off” if your preamp is capable of

handling 96 kHz signals. The DVD Player will

pass the signal through without any further

processing.

Smart Sound

Provides a variety of preset tone control options by

musical genre.

• Use the / buttons to select Off, Classical,

Rock, Jazz, or Pop.
