1.1 FUNCTIONS OUTLINE

The AFC1150 system is designed for low cost back-out applications, requiring individual
spindle control.

Fig. 1.1

The technological advances found in our AFC1100 and AFC1200 fastening systems have
been incorporated into this design.

w Compact Design

As the result of miniaturization technology, including a smaller transformer, the width
of the controller is only 93 mm in spite of the built in power supply and servo amplifier.
The back panel method of mounting eliminates the need for swing-door enclosures
previously required for maintenance purposes.

w Motor

A DC permanent magnet motor provides improved motor control. The sealed design
of the motor offers greater protection from contamination without generating any
excess heat.

w Servo Amplifier

By adopting IGBT (Isolated Gate Bipolar Transistor) technology, the equipment size is
reduced, and drive circuit power and protection are improved. The servo amplifier
circuitry, motor, and transmission are identical to those in our AFC1200 and
AFC1100 fastening systems.

w Abnormal Condition Display

The Busy/Abnormal LED on front of the controller lights red when an abnormal
condition occurs. Three other LED's function to indicate the nature of the abnormality.

w Speed Change

The motor speed can be set-up for time-controlled back-out operations, which begin
with slow speed for a specific time, then accelerate to high speed. Other options
include operation at either a constant high or constant slow speed.

w High & Slow Speed Set-Up

Dip switches on the front panel offer four set-up choices for high speed, and four
choices for slow speed.
