MGS Multi-Gun Source - Operation

The Independent Gun Control (IGC) Board allows
the voltage to each spraygun to be set
independently (See Figure 6).

When the toggle

switch on the IGC board is in the OFF position, the
high voltage adjust knob, located on the door
mounted control unit, controls the output kV to all
guns. When the toggle switch on the IGC board is
in the ON position, the individual potentiometers
on the IGC board control the output kV to each
gun. For example, the kV output of gun 1 is
controlled by the setting of GUN 1 potentiometer
on the IGC board. Likewise, the kV output of gun
2 is controlled by the setting of GUN 2 potentiometer
on the IGC board, and so on, and so forth. In this
manner, the output to each gun can be idependently
varied between 0 and rated kV.

To set the output of a gun using the IGC board
perform the following:

1. Ensure that the IGC toggle switch is in the ON
position.

2. Trigger a gun and tweak the appropriate
numbered pot on the IGC board to set that
gun's output to the desired operating point on
the front panel kV and µA meters.

The red High Voltage ON Indicator will light when
high voltage is present at any spraygun.

>

Tweaking a potentiometer on the IGC

board clockwise will increase kV output
to that gun, while tweaking counter-
clockwise will decrease kV. The
potentiometers require approximately 25
complete turns to adjust the gun kV from
minimum to maximum or vice-a-versa.

5. If the Independent Gun control Feature (IGC) is
not being used, set the high voltage adjustment
knob to the desired operating point as indicat-
ed by the Kilovolt (kV) and Microamp (µA) met-
ers. If the IGC is being used, see section
below for operation of this feature.

indicates the current in millionths of amps leaving
the triggered spraygun's electrode.
