INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR KITS #256071 & 256124

TO CONVERT MANUAL SHIFT TO AIR CYLINDER SHIFT

1. Remove manual clutch shifter by loosening setscrew, jam nut and unscrewing clutch shifter assembly. Remove

plug and shims from winch. Install indicator switch in location from which plug was removed (see FIGURE 1).

2. Lightly lubricate plunger on clutch shifter with grease. Thread cylinder all the way into housing. Tighten cylinder

securely, by hand, DO NOT use a wrench to tighten. Install one or two shims (item #49) under cylinder head, if
needed, to orient cylinder port for pneumatic connections. Tighten setscrew securely (see FIGURE 1).

3. Remove uppermost brake housing mounting capscrew and attach indicator light plate using capscrew. Tighten

capscrew to 30 to 40 Ft. Lbs. (see FIGURE 2).

4. Connect wire with ring terminal (from indicator light assembly) under one screw head on switch. Install wire on

other screw on switch and attach to 12V or 24V DC(+) as applicable. Attach wire to ground (-) from butt con-
nector. Refer to ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC below. Slide boot over switch.

5. Remove adhesive backing from decal and stick onto data plate of winch as shown in FIGURE 2.

6. Connect air pressure line to .125-27 NPT cylinder port.

TO DISENGAGE CLUTCH: Run winch in the reverse (reel out) direction until the load is off the cable. Apply air
pressure, 80 PSI (min.) / 150 PSI (max.), to shifter cylinder. CAUTION: Pressure must not exceed 150 PSI.

TO ENGAGE CLUTCH: Remove pressure from the cylinder (a return spring engages the clutch plunger). Run
winch in reverse until the clutch engagement indicator light (green light) is lit. DO NOT attempt to pull a load
unless the green light is lit.

7. Test clutch and light for proper operation. Light should be "ON" when clutch is ENGAGED and "OFF" when clutch

is DISENGAGED.
