Inner-String Cement Tool (CMT)
Volant’s CMT adapts the Casing Running Tool with internal grip (CRTi™) architecture for inner-string
cementing. The tool is designed to work in conjunction with the CRTi. It takes advantage of the minimal rig-in
times and clears rig floor space normally used by large cementing lines. Volant’s CMT1-37 attaches to the
CRTi3-7.0 1 . The CMT1-37 is designed to hoist the drill string internal to the casing and provide a sealed flow
path for cementing that is integral to the bore of the CRTi and top drive. An integral swivel allows torque to be
applied to the casing while minimizing torque transfer to the drill string.

1 Compatible with CRTi3-7.0 architecture, this tool can be modified to work with other CRTi
architectures, with a possible change in capacity and other characteristics.
2 CMT circulation pressure capacity is generally governed by packer cup pressure capacity.
Pressure capacity may be less than indicated if alternative seal arrangements are used.
3 CMT minimum diameter, not accounting for the packer cup assembly.
4 Tool joint can be modified upon customer request.
