ESCRIPTION
Detcon Model RD-4X remote display monitor is designed to receive and display the status of up to 16
remote gas sensor devices. Each display channel, numbered 1 through 16, corresponds with the output of a
mating multiplexer PCB assembly (Detcon part #5216), which terminates up to 16, 4-20 mA sensor devices
and transmits that information to the remote display via a two conductor RS-485 data line. The monitor
displays each sensor location’s gas type, range of detection, and provides alarm condition information.
The assembly is enclosed in a NEMA 4X molded fiberglass case with a hinged, gasketed door and is
designed for surface mounting in both indoor and outdoor locations. A glass view window is mounted in
the door. The NEMA 4X rating is, by definition, raintight and therefore, suitable for outdoor location in
electrically non-hazardous environments. The system is powered by AC line power and/or 24 VDC.
The enclosure houses a 117VAC/24VDC fused (1 amp) power supply, a de-multiplexer PCB assembly, a back-lit
graphic LCD display and a 7 pin lug-type terminal strip for input wiring; 117VAC, 24VDC and RS-485.
