The Meter Reading Process
As the diagram below indicates, the meter reading process begins and ends with the billing
system, which is the main repository of customer data.
To start the meter reading cycle, a file is created from the billing system for Badger
READCENTER to import. Information in READCENTER is therefore synchronized with current
data from the billing system. This is beneficial because changes occur when people move into
or out of properties, or meters and reading technology are installed or replaced.
Synchronization between the billing system and READCENTER offers two additional
advantages: First, information only needs to be updated in one place, the billing system; and
second, once READCENTER is set up and configured, there is little need for manual data
maintenance.
