NOTE:

For information on storage setup of cross technology logical servers (logical servers

capable of being VC hosted or VM hosted), refer to Enabling Fluid Movement of Workloads
Across Dissimilar Servers (p2v, v2p, p2p’) with HP Insight Dynamics 6.0
available at:

NOTE:

For a list of supported storage, refer to the HP Insight Software 6.0 Support Matrix available

at:

NOTE:

When Continuous Access XP storage replication is used, HP Insight Recovery depends

on Cluster Extension for XP to manage storage replication. Cluster Extension For XP must be
installed on a standalone Windows system. Cluster Extension for XP depends on Raid Manager
XP to manage XP storage replication. Raid Manager instances and Raid manager configuration
files must be configured to manage various device groups that are configured in HP Insight
Recovery. For more information, refer to:

HP StorageWorks XP Cluster Extension Software documentation available at:

http://

h20000.www2.hp.com

- click on Manuals, then go to Storage –> Storage Software –> Storage

Replication Software –> HP StorageWorks XP Cluster Extension Software.

HP StorageWorks XP RAID Manager documentation available at:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com

- click on Manuals, then go to Storage –> Storage Software –> Storage Device Management
Software –> HP StorageWorks XP RAID Manager Software.

Primary Site logical server setup

You must ensure that logical servers selected for DR protection at the Primary Site meet the
following requirements:

The storage associated with these logical servers must be SAN based.

If the logical servers you plan to protect with HP Insight Recovery at the Primary Site have
not been activated, and an operating system and applications have not been installed, these
steps must be completed before you can configure these logical servers for DR protection.

Recovery Site logical server setup

1.

Deactivate and gracefully shutdown the logical servers in the Recovery Groups at the Primary
Site, using Virtualization Manager.

2.

Using the appropriate storage management tools, for example, HP StorageWorks Command
View EVA, failover the storage associated with the Recovery Groups to the Recovery Site.

3.

If there are VM hosted logical servers in the Recovery Groups:
a.

Rescan storage using VM host management tools, for example, VMware Virtual Center,
to ensure that the VM host recognizes the failed over storage.

b.

Refresh Virtual Machine resources using the Logical Servers Refresh operation in the
Tools

menu of the Visualization tab in the Virtualization Manager.

4.

Create recovery logical servers using Virtualization Manager. Specify the replicated LUNs
information as part of logical server creation.
