Getting started

When accessing the Performance Tool for the first time, do the following:
1.

Read the introductory information in the Getting Started tab.

2.

Go to the Settings menu to enter discovery parameters.

At initial startup, the tool automatically discovers arrays in the local subnet of the host computer.
The settings menu includes options for indicating additional or different IP addresses. For more
information, see

“Configuring the tool” (page 23)

.

3.

Go to the Arrays tab to view the list of discovered arrays. For more information, see

“Discovering arrays” (page 23)

.

4.

Go to the Performance tab to create and view a sample (snapshot) of performance data and
configuration information. For more information, see

“Obtaining and viewing a sample of

configuration settings and performance statistics” (page 27)

.

5.

Go to the Schedule tab to initiate the gathering of performance data over an extended period
of time. For more information, see

“Collecting performance data” (page 25)

.

NOTE:

Each time the Performance Tool is opened, a discovery is performed using parameters

in the Settings menu.
