Releasing a LUSE Volume

WARNING:

Releasing LUSE volumes is a destructive operation. Move and/or back up your data before

proceeding. Delete all SCSI paths to the LUSE volume that you want released.
To release a LUSE volume:

1.

Make sure that Remote Web Console is in Modify mode.

For detailed information about Modify mode, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Remote

Web Console User's Guide.

2.

Select a CU number from the LDEV Information tree (in the upper-left corner of the LUN

Expansion

tab). The LDEV Detail table (in the upper-right corner of the LUN Expansion tab)

displays all LDEVs in the selected CU.

3.

Select a LUSE volume in the LDEV Detail table (in the upper-right corner of the LUN Expansion

tab). Right-click the LUSE volume to display the Release LUSE Volume pop-up menu.

4.

Click Release LUSE Volume.

5.

The Release LUSE Volume confirmation dialog box displays. Verify that the LUSE volumes listed

in the confirmation dialog box are the ones that you want released.

6.

Click OK (or Cancel).

: The new settings appear in the LUN Expansion tab in

blue bold italics

, but are not yet

implemented.

7.

Click Apply in the LUN Expansion tab (or Cancel).

8.

Click OK (or Cancel).

Note:

If the selected LUSE volume has a path or if any volume other than a LUSE volume is selected, this

dialog box lists only LDEVs containing a LUSE volume to be released.

List of LDEVs containing a LUSE volume to be released

This list shows the LDEVs containing LUSE volumes to be released.
• LDKC:CU:LDEV: This field shows an LDEV icon. This field also shows an LDKC number, a

CU number, and an LDEV number.

Note:

An LDEV number that ends with a # indicates that the LDEV is an external volume

(for example, 00:00:01#). For details regarding external volumes, see HP StorageWorks

XP24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.

Note:

An LDEV number that ends with a letter V indicates that the LDEV is a virtual volume

(V-VOL) for XP Snapshot (for example, 00:00:01V). For details regarding V-VOLs, see HP

StorageWorks XP24000 Snapshot User’s Guide.
