Task 2: Provide Needed Placement Information

d. Launch the DSM/SCM Planner Interface to receive the RVU or SPR into

DSM/SCM. If you do not want to receive the RVU or SPR now, you can stop
the TAPESIM server process and start it manually later when needed.

e. Stop the TAPESIM server process after the RVU or SPR is received into

DSM/SCM.

If you are using DSM/SCM, proceed with the software configuration process as
described in the DSM/SCM User's Guide.

If you are using NonStop Software Essentials along with DSM/SCM, for more
information, refer The NonStop Software Essentials Installation and Quick Start
Guide
.

Note. The Tapesim process $ZRVU simulates a real tape drive with a mounted tape. To
utilize it, specify $ZRVU as the tape drive for your Receive Software request in the Planner
Interface. Alternatively, it can also be used as a Restore command. For example, Use
Restore $ZRVU,*.*.*, listonly.

After successful completion of restore, stop the $ZRVU process by using the STOP
$ZRVU command from a TACL prompt.

Note. If you are using NonStop Software Essentials to complete the installation,
deselect the Start TAPESIM and Launch DSM/SCM Planner Interface checkbox. After
you exit IPSetup you must launch NonStop Software Essentials manually using HP
Systems Insight Manager
. You also need to start the TAPESIM process manually (if it is
not already running).

If you are using DSM/SCM (either Planner Interface (PI) or NonStop Software Essentials),
ensure STARTSCM is run on your system. If not, you will not be able to use the PI or
NonStop Software Essentials.
