Creating Virtual Volumes and Datastores

You have the option of creating a new virtual volume on the HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage system
and have it exported to the vCenter managed ESX/ESX(i) host where it can be accessed.

Creating a Virtual Volume from an Existing HP 3PAR System Template

Follow these steps to create a new virtual volume:
1.

In the main menu navigation, click Home

→Inventory→Host and Clusters.

2.

Go to the HP 3PAR

→Virtual Volumes.

3.

Click Provision New. The Provision Storage welcome screen appears with information
concerning the provisioning process.

NOTE:

To prevent the welcome screen from displaying in the future, select the “Skip this

page in the future when provisioning storage” check box.

4.

Click Next to select a storage system template to be used for provisioning.

NOTE:

Only templates configured with at least TPVV or CPVV type, size, and user CPG

from Storage Systems associated with the selected ESX(i) host are displayed.

5.

Select an appropriate template from the list based on the summary of details, then click Next.
