8. Replace the service door (see Replacing the service door on page 58 ).
9. Insert the battery (see Inserting a battery on page 44 ).
10. Connect AC power and external devices to the computer.
11. Turn on the computer.
Adding or replacing the memory module underneath the keyboard
CAUTION: To prevent information loss or an unresponsive system:
Shut down the computer before adding or replacing memory modules. Do not remove a memory
module while the computer is on, in the Sleep state, or in Hibernation.
If you are not sure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on by pressing the
power button. Then shut down the computer through the operating system.
To replace the memory module underneath the keyboard:
1. Save your work and shut down the computer.
2. Disconnect AC power and external devices connected to the computer.
3. Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the battery bay away from you.
4. Remove the battery (see Removing a battery on page 45 ).
5. Remove the service door (see Removing the service door on page 57 ).
6. Remove the keyboard:
a. With the computer upside down, loosen the keyboard screws (1) on the bottom of the
computer.
