Thin Provisioning

When sharing Snapshot, Thin Provisioning, and Thin Provisioning Z volumes, note the following:

Thin Provisioning pools (including Smart Tiers pools) and Thin Provisioning Z pools cannot be
used as Snapshot pools.

The number of available pools for Snapshot decreases according to the number of Thin
Provisioning pools (including Smart Tiers pools) and Thin Provisioning Z pools existing in the
storage system. A system can have a total of 128 pools.

If a Thin Provisioning virtual volume is specified as the Snapshot P-VOL, and the capacity of
the Thin Provisioning virtual volume is increasing, the Snapshot pair cannot be created.

Resource Partition

You can create Snapshot pair if P-VOL and S-VOL are allocated to the same resource group or
different resource groups. However, the pool to be used must be allocated to the same resource
group as P-VOL or the resource group that has an authority to create Snapshot pair. For details
about resource groups, see the HP P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems User Guide.
