The SessionType attribute that you specify for a ServiceName object indicates whether
the transaction type defined by the ServiceName will use a session from the
interprocess session pool or the IDS session pool.

You will need as many RSC sessions in an IDS session pool as there might be
concurrent DDE conversations (tied to RSC IDS sessions) with the Tandem DDE
Gateway from your client application. This number should generally be low (1 to 3)
because individual DDE conversations usually exist only for the time it takes to
process one transaction (1 to 2 seconds).

Default

The minimum (default) value is 0 (zero) sessions. The maximum value is the sum
of the NumberOfInterprocessSessions and the NumberOf IdsSessions (which must
be 16 sessions or less).

Example

NumberofIdsSessions=1

NumberOfUmsSessions

This option is used if your client application has DDE hot or warm links to the
Tandem DDE Gateway. To receive RSC UMS messages from the Tandem system, the
Tandem DDE Gateway starts a dedicated RSC session.

Enter 1 to receive RSC UMS messages and thus support DDE hot and warm links for
your client application. The NumberOfUmsSessions must be 0 (zero) or 1. The default
is 0 (zero).

Example

NumberOfUmsSessions = 1

UseRscSecurity

This configuration option is used to specify whether you want to be prompted for a
User ID and password when you start the connection associated with the PortName
object. The User ID and password are verified by an RSC Access Control Server that
you write and then configure with RSC on the Tandem system.

0=Do not prompt for a User ID and password

1=Prompt for a User ID and password

Note

You can change the appearance of the security dialog box and alter the related processing logic. For
detailed information, see Section 8, “Extending the Tandem DDE Gateway.”

Default

The default value is 0 (zero)—do not prompt for a User ID and password.
