Glossary
Connection
A generic term indicating peer-to-peer communications, over which sessions, tunnels, and pipes are
carried.
Connection Key
An eight character code used as authentication token allowing the customer to connect to the midway
server.
iCAS
"Instant CAS" is a lightweight connection tool the customer installs on his/her desktop as a browser
plugin.
iRAP
"Instant RAP" is a connection tool for the support agent which communicates with the iCAS and is
implemented as browser plugin.
Midway Server
Also called RAMS; the server at HP where the customer and the support agent connect into to set up a
connection.
Pipe
A tunnel from the support agent's desktop to the iCAS which points to a certain device and port in the
customer's network to relay TCP or UDP connections.
Session
An SSH connection, including the command channel and any port forwarding tunnels.
Tunnel
An SSH port-forwarding channel-pair, as formed with the -L or -R command line options. In Model 0 (
Embedded), the SSH tunnel carries the application traffic.
