Create pool dialog box

Pools can be created for storage systems that support THP. Additionally, Smart pools of differing
performance levels can be used to improve application performance.

TIP:

It is not required that you configure every dialog box field. When the minimum required information
is entered, the Show Plan button will activate allowing review of the recommended plan. If desired,
use Back to customize the plan with specifications that meet your requirements.
Below, field groups are indicated by >>. Field groups expose information or fields when clicked, and
hide information or fields when clicked again.
When using a dialog box, errors are displayed at the top of the dialog box with a problem description.

Fields

This field will either display the selected storage system name, or
prompt the user to select the storage system from a list.

-

Storage System

Accept the default pool name, or enter your own name. Do not
confuse pool name with pool id. The pool id is an assigned
number, the value of pool name is user definable.
Reflect a pool name to the storage system is selected by default,
and provides naming consistency between Command View AE
Suite and the storage system. If it is not displayed, it does not
apply to the selected storage system.

-

Pool Name

If Pool Type with THP and Smart options is displayed, the selected
storage system supports both THP and Smart. If Pool Type options
are not displayed, it means the selected storage system supports
THP only.
Select THP to create a pool using one or more parity groups.
Select Smart to create a pool with tiers, using one or more parity
groups. Note that Smart options will be displayed at the bottom
of the dialog box when Smart is selected.
