1985-97 TPI/LT1 Throttle Body

Step 1

Let engine cool, raise hood and disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Step 2

Remove the throttle body inlet hose and disconnect the two water lines from the underside of the factory
throttle body.

Step 3

Disconnect all vacuum hoses, electrical connectors, throttle and cruise control cables from the factory throttle
body.

Step 4

Remove the four (4) mounting bolts from the throttle body and remove the throttle body from the vehicle slowly
– ensuring that no other connections are hindering removal. Discard the four factory mounting bolts.

Step 5

Remove the seven (7) torque head screws from the water crossover manifold on the bottom of the stock throttle
body and transfer over to the new throttle body using the supplied gasket, and supplied screws.

! CAUTION !

Screws may thread tightly at bottom of travel – be sure the

manifold is fully seated to the throttle body to avoid any leaks

Step 6

Remove the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) from the stock throttle body and transfer over to the new BBK throttle
body using the existing screws. (See Diagram for modifications which may be necessary to TPS after unit is
installed on vehicle and TPS reading is verified.) (Tuned Port sensors are factory slotted.)

Step 7

Reinstall new throttle body to the manifold using the supplied gaskets and bolts and torque to factory
specification.

Step 8

Check the TPS voltage reading with a digital voltmeter and adjust to the factory specification.

Step 9

Reinstall the negative terminal, refill the coolant tank to allow for lost coolant and start vehicle. Idle adjustment is
made on socket head cap screw accessible from back side of throttle body on drivers side of vehicle.
